It's Almost Here

Winter is almost here in Texas, and now it feels more like the Christmas season.  I'm not a cool weather person, and get cold very easy when a small wind passes by.  The hard freezes are times when I hunker down where it's warm and watch a good movie or TV show.  You will find me covered up with a blanket on the couch while doing so.  Either way, the nice 70 degree temps we had recently were more my liking.

THANK YOU LORD

Today, I look around at the world we live in and see so much turmoil.  People, are living the best way they can and those of us who have a life with the comforts on a daily basis, feel as though we are in some way sinning.  I say this because we see so many who are without a home, because of the devastating weather, recently and those who are sick from some incurable diseases.  Those whose lives have been torn to pieces, not from their own doing, but from matters out of their control.
Yes, I have my problems, and yes they are giving me unwanted stress.  Yet, I can see things going on  that make my problems, look small in comparison.  This gives me a comfort in knowing that I should be grateful for the things in my life and pray for the problems that I see nearby.  I can rest in the knowledge that the Lord, has his hand on my life and problems.  I can thank him for the goodness, he has given me, knowing that I am truly blessed.
Today, is a good time for all of us to be thankful for the good that is in our lives, and pray for the one's less fortunate.......

Blessings?

Laying in bed during the night, I remembered an old song, that I sang in church many times.  "Count Your Blessings", is a song I grew up with as I'm sure many others did.  It kept running through my mind as I lay there and I went through the words and verse as if I were singing it long ago.  Then, I realized that this must be what I should start doing, because it's been awhile since I made myself think of the many things I have, compared to others.  I felt as if I had let down on my worship of the only one who has brought me through so many storms in life.  So, today I've kept the memory of this song running through my mind, to help me be humble and not react so quickly to things I dislike.  Thank you Lord, for everything!

Answered

You don't know how many times, I claimed the protection of our Lord, over this tree.  For protection from it falling and taking out the power lines which are directly under it, where it would fall too.  Protection of the home and cars parked over there is also in the prayers, each time.  As you can see, it is already leaning and many of the large limbs are rotting, which gives it a matter of time before they will start falling.  Depending on the severity of the storms and wind we have in our area, my fingers stay crossed and prayers constantly go up to our Lord.  In the recent week, you can be sure I've done this with all the rain, sleet, snow and ice.  So, far he has protected us and kept everything safe.  Thank you Lord.

Teak Patio Sets

The season of summer is fast approaching and with it comes the need to revamp your home and garden furnishings.  A splash of decor which includes a tropical theme, can really make your patio, garden or deck inviting to visitor's this season.  It's a great idea to do your shopping ahead of time, to insure the right items to finalize your decor.  The patio serves the purpose for entertaining welcomed guests to your parties.

Prayer

In the last few days we have experienced winter weather.  It's been a threat of winter precipitation, with some ice.  Having large old trees around my home is a potential problem when the ice arrives.  Last year we had an ice storm that left huge trees broken and toppled from the weight of the ice.  Crews were working around the clock to restore electricity to many areas here in the North Texas locations.  Ours was one of them and it took the next door neighbors a whole week to get rid of the large tree and have the electric company come out to hook them back up.
I have a 200 year old tree that is in my front yard.  It's been large since I was a child and I'm now 70, which places it in the historic category.  I've left it alone out of nostalgia, but it's at the point I can no longer ignore it.  Each time we have a bad storm or threat of ice, I go into a prayer mode.  I can't tell you how many times I've prayed that God would put his hand on this tree and protect us from any disaster it could cause.
Living on a fixed income doesn't leave any extra money at the end of the month.  A tree this large could cost over $300 to $1000 to cut down and remove.  If it falls then it will take out the power lines that it is hovering right over at the present.  Some of the areas are rotting where limbs have gotten old and died.  It's not a good position to be in and it keeps me on edge just thinking about it.
A licensed electrician can also cost a pretty penny, so you see what I'm facing should this occur.
This time has been scary, but God has once again brought us through the storm.  The icy weather stayed up in the other counties and we only got cold rain here.  I am so thankful and this post is my verbal praise to our Lord for his mercy in this matter.  Truly, an answer to my prayers.  Thank you Lord!

Decorations & Lights

During the holiday season, you see these everywhere.  It's not uncommon to follow the crowd during these times, to view the lights and displays.  You can visit the   parks  link in this post to see some of the designs they can assemble for your home or business.  It's listed as a great way to show your holiday spirit and have displays that are sturdy and flexible.  They state that the units are weather worthy and stay lit, so why would you consider any other form of decorations?

Rain

I woke up to wind, thunder and rain hitting the house.  It will be nice for the lakes, since most of them are down.  It kept me from mowing the yard, after weeks of telling myself, "I'll do it tomorrow".  Will give the grass 2 days to dry out and then try to get motivated once again.  There is now a dire need to get it done, grass is growing fast.

Mold

A water leak or even a flooded can be devastating when it comes to clean up and repairs.  Many times after the building's structure has dried out, certain areas can develop mold.  This is when you need help with detection and removal.  You can shop mold killer here   by clicking on the link in this post. Information will be ready for your interest.

Beauty

I never realized the beauty that is in the world until my sight started to grow dim.  Now it seems that everything is beautiful to me.  This is one of the many trees in my yard, which provides ample shade in the summer months.

Christmas 2012

Most of Texas woke up to rain which switched to sleet, then snow after lunch time.  Morning activities and celebrations were a must, because the weather made driving conditions unsafe.  I stayed home and had my own time on the computer and later watched the TV.  Made me some good food and indulged in some that will make me fatter.
The weather took it's toll on other areas of the nation, with tornadoes, which tore up homes and  businesses.  My prayers are with those as well as the one's who have lost their lives.  It's been a sad Christmas season, with so many people being killed senselessly.  My condolences go out to the one's who now have to deal with the loss of their family member or friends.  Our world needs to come back to the only thing that can help us.  Our belief in our God.

AC Units

Here we have another website who specializes in all types of products.  I visited it to find a wide array of items listed and they even have air conditioner units  for your convenience.  It's amazing how you find so many things at your click of a mouse these days.  As long as you have a bank account, gift card, credit or debit card then as long as your funds hold out you can shop.

Finding Strength

The recent storm which devastated a large portion of the eastern states, has left many people relying on what they believe.  Their strength to get up and go forward with come from inside their souls, hearts and their beliefs in God.  Many will turn to the churches and relief organizations for assistance for their dire needs.  The states/local government will help out as best they can when the final assessments are delivered.  Insurance companies will also help with the funds they have.
I believe these American people have the strength it takes to find the stamina and fortitude to press on.  Rebuilding will take sometime and many decisions.  Today, it's with heavy hearts that we watch as these people make an effort to pick up the pieces of their lives.  Our thoughts, prayers and hopes are with them during this horrific time.

Thankful

I know that there are plenty of people thankful for this wonderful weather.  It was only a few days ago that we were sweltering in the horrible triple digit heat.  I suppose this means fall is coming to our rescue and leaving the summer months behind.  Texas, always has high temperatures and even though we have had a mild summer in comparison to others, it still gives us fits trying to survive.  So, now we wonder how the winter will be, with it's cold and sometimes snow?  I only hope it gives us enough cold to get rid of those horrible grasshoppers that we had this summer.   They ate everything in sight.  Each year we have been plagued with something.  The West Nile Virus has been rough this year like it was last year.  I hope no one else dies from it.

Issac

It looks as though New Orleans will experience another hurricane tomorrow.  The Red Cross has already set up shelters down in the areas where people will evacuate to.  We hope that the devastation will be minimal because this area of Louisiana has already been torn up back 7 years ago, from hurricane "Katrina".  Our hearts and prayers are with the people who live and work in this area of the country.
I only hope that our political arena, will be nice and behave themselves rather that taking advantage of it to make a name for themselves, considering the up coming election for president.

The Rain

How special was that rain last night?  It cooled things down and gave us the needed rain we've been praying for.  I see where the house next door has a limb down on the ground but I don't notice any other areas with broken limbs.  There was some wind with the storms, but mostly lightening, thunder and rain.  I'm thankful for the rain and I hear more may be on the way.  Thank you Lord.
