I Say Thanks

All too often, we get caught up in life's hectic daily activities, and forget to pray or thank God, for his goodness.  I'm so guilty of this and try to remind myself of the good things, in my life and what God does daily for me and my husband,  Just post a "public Thank You" to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for his daily protection, provisions, and kindness...........how about you all?

Of No Use?

The next time you feel like GOD can't use YOU, just remember...
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah
 was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal

Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
AND Lazarus was dead!

No more excuses now!! God can use you to your full potential. Besides you aren't the message, you are just the messenger.

Breast-feeding 101
I'm sure you've heard about the difference between a breast fed baby and one fed on formula from cow's milk.  God made sure that a mother's milk would be the best thing for her baby to be nourished on during it's growing years.  You can find many articles of how breast milk  is considered best used than formula for infants.  I've seen some mother's loose that bond between her and her baby because of using bottles, rather than breast feeding.  Actually if you look at the benefits, you will see that you don't have as much work, and it's already warm.

Give Thanks

A time to reflect on years past, and things that were very important to us. A time to be thankful for the things we have and if able, to share the things we have with others, less fortunate.
This week you will be gathering with your family to be together again, on this occasion. It may be the last time for some of your family to be with you. It may be a new beginning for a few of you. Either way, this will be a time for you as a family to make memories, as you have on previous occasions.
Each year, one or two of the members aren't able to make it, for one reason or another. One of my sons, lives out of state, and won't be here. Another may have other family members to be with at this time. So, we will be thankful for the family members that do get to drop by and enjoy the day as well as we can.
Once again, let us remember to thank the Lord for each day he has given us and for a great healthy coming new year.

All Things

Living daily by the seat of your pants is becoming a way of life.  Learning to believe and trust in things to happen according to the way their supposed to is a test.  Humans aren't as able to do this in the world where we exist.  We find ourselves wanting to hurry things along a bit in order to take off some stress.  Many times all we do is cause ourselves more worry and stress, by taking matters in our own hands.  When I stay back and wait for God's help.  Things fall right into place just as they were meant to.  I hope that I can do this more often and keep as much stress out of my life as possible.

Happy

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.  The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge:  but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.  All the days of the afficted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Proverbs 15:13-15

Food

z5 Pictures, Images and Photos
The story on the news, is telling us that there are many people going without food, lately. It's my concern that we as the American people, need to rally and help our fellow citizens who are in need. Since our government isn't doing much to help, we need to follow up on the needs in our own towns and states.

Another Year

The year has taken off and we are still looking at what we got ourselves into.  January, has come and gone so the spring season is just around the corner.  Very soon we will celebrate the love of "Easter" as we Christians remember the sacrifice our precious "Jesus" gave for our sins.  Our hope is vested in this faith and we look toward the eternal destination it promises to those who believe.  May we take to time to observe this holy experience and be once again, thankful.

No More

I went out to my sister's home to spend it with her and see Mom and my step-dad, that year.  My kids weren't able to make it for one reason or the other, but at least we were able to spend it another year, with Mom.......
This year and last it didn't happen.  Not because they aren't still alive, but because they are living in a nursing home and Mom is bed ridden.  This gives us one option and that is to go there for awhile during that day.  Everything we had begun to enjoy, is now gone and we don't have get to gether's anymore like before.  It's just too bad, but that's what happens, if you live long enough.

Issac

It looks as though New Orleans will experience another hurricane tomorrow.  The Red Cross has already set up shelters down in the areas where people will evacuate to.  We hope that the devastation will be minimal because this area of Louisiana has already been torn up back 7 years ago, from hurricane "Katrina".  Our hearts and prayers are with the people who live and work in this area of the country.
I only hope that our political arena, will be nice and behave themselves rather that taking advantage of it to make a name for themselves, considering the up coming election for president.

Therapy

After moving home, last year I began thinking about doing a spring vegetable garden.  There is ample space out in the back yard, so I went out, considered the area to plant, the size I would like and viewed about how it might look.  Today, a nice vegetable garden graces the area and I am looking forward to my first harvest in what has become a first year garden.  It's been work, but in the process I have once again found comfort in the yard I grew up in.

Oh Yes..........

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a short, balding golfer type about  70 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch.
When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups,  except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate. I wasn't  sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple  pie," Jim added, completely unabashed.
We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time.. But  when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes  off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down.. The other guys couldn't believe it.  They ate their lunches silently and grinned.
The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white  meat tuna. He ordered a parfait. I smiled. He asked if he amused me. I answered,  "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me. How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible?
He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is possible. I try to eat the food I  need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing  out on something    good. This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I  haven't been this old before.."
"So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored. I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I  haven't fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown  overhead.
There are too many golf courses I haven't played. I've not laughed at all the  jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes. I want  to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a  country church once more    and thank God for His grace.
I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed  long distance calls to the folks I love the most. I haven't cried at all the  movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind on my face. I  want to be in love again.
So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die  before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I  filled my heart's    desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life  expired.."
Chocolate Ice Cream With that, I called the waitress over. "I've changed my mind, " I said. "I  want what he is having, only add some more whipped cream!"
This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day! If you get this twice,  then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh often - Be  happy.
SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS including me if I'm lucky enough to be counted  among them.
Be mindful that happiness isn't based on possessions, power, or prestige, but  on relationships with people we like and respect. Remember that while money  talks, CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM SINGS!

Ice Cream

Last week, I took my children to a restaurant.  My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace.

As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"
As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.  He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."
"Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied.
Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."
Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.
He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already."
Sometimes, we all need some ice cream.

Jobs

It's looks as though the world is becoming so high tech, that we must go back to school in order to keep up with the new culinary arts.  It's amazing to see all the intricate systems and computers involved in technology these days.  Fifty years ago no one ever knew about such things as Cooking Jobs and if they did, it was in town or for some high class family and we knew nothing of it.  You can get more information about this type of job, by clicking on the above link
