Churches

In the last few years, I have noticed many churches opening and closing.  Some of the churches would spring up in local strip malls and very soon after they would close and vacate the space.  Others would open in vacant houses and make needed repairs on them.  Yet, they would fall to the bad economic situations we have been facing.
There's a huge fancy church here in my town that is going to go under from lack of funds.  The denomination involved should have been able to pull enough parishioners to carry the load.  It just hasn't happened and this too will fall on hard times.  This has become a sad situation that looks to be an epidemic in proportion.

Dear Paul

In a week or so, you will have been gone a year.  It's going to be hard on several people, especially your daughters.  I know they are missing you because I hear it from their own words weekly.  It's so sad that you had to leave them.  Now, your sister has followed you and that only leaves your brother David.  I hope somehow, you have been at peace and please know how much the girls miss you.

Suing Perry

I can see where this is going.  We've come down to the fact that people who don't believe in God, are suing the Governor of Texas because he has issued the support of a "Day of Prayer" to be conducted in the Houston, TX area.  They say he has stepped over the line by using his office and the seal as a means of support for the event.  In other words, these people are trying to tell us that our leader is not supposed to lead the Christians in this event.  We are not telling them "not to believe", which they do so very well.  Why can't they leave the Christians and God fearing people to their beliefs.  Isn't that what the American freedom is all about?  Freedom to or not to ....believe.  If prayer helps and comforts during our time of economic duress, then what makes this such a problem?  Is there not the same attentions, given to sick and ailing people?  If our Governor is a person that believes in God, why can't he call those who believe, to come and assemble for prayer?

Scriptures

Praise ye the Lord, Praise, o ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.  Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.  The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.  Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

Remnants of the Philistines.....

Archaeologists are piecing together the history of a people remembered as the bad guys of the Hebrew Bible.  The remains of an ancient metropolis of Gath, appear in the biblical story close to three millennia ago.  The most famous resident, according to the Book of Samuel, was Goliath.  Gath was on the frontier between the Philistines, who occupied the Mediterranean coastal plain, and the Israelites, who controlled the inland hills.  This digging sheds light on how the Philistines lived in the 10th and 9th centuries B.C.  Around 604 B.C., Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon invaded and put the Philistines' cities to the sword. There is no remnant of them after that.  Every year they have an annual digging season in this area to try and find items from that era.

GPS

While taking a long trip, I found that keeping up with the paper map would get to be an ordeal.  Many times I would have to stop and buy another map that interacted with the map I already was using.  Now, you can get
gps rangefinder at the source   and be well on your way to your destination in no time.  These units are equipped with the best amenities and come in different price ranges.  The installation usually can be obtained from a local dealer associated with this company.

America

Happy July 4th Pictures, Images and Photos
Have a fun and safe 4th..........

Grills

If you don't want to grill out doors, then you can do as well with the convenience of a electric grill, inside your patio or home.  Shopping for appliances is better done at an online store, because of the amenities involved.  You can shop for electric grills  and compare the price's plus benefits that these stores offer.  Then you can have the product shipped to your home which gives you extra time for other activities.  Go online to the link in this article and see what items they list.  They will also have a list of items which are on sale at this time.

Independence Day

The 4th of July sets off an array of festivities to celebrate our country's independence.  It's as American as baseball, coke, and apple pie.  That's just part of the celebrations we enjoy throughout the year and it's something each individual looks forward to.  We don't even allow the hot weather to ruin our fun.  BarBQ's, will be in full force and the fireworks will have to wait due to the burn bans the Fire Departments have enacted.  The drought has cause many fires to break out and destroy large amounts of grasslands, plus home and buildings.  It's okay with us because we'd rather be safe than sorry.  Happy and safe 4th......to all!

Meeting of Minds

How often have you been involved in a conference call or office meeting?  It never fails that on Friday you will be summoned to a meeting of minds.  The huge companies have but one way to include more that one complex and it's executive's during a company meeting.  Today, you can find many who are coming together using megameeting.com web conferencing  to make major decisions.  This type of communication is a great way to keep up on current company functions as well as budget and corporate decisions.

Compare

A Holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, 'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.'
The Lord led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table..
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew,
which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths..
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump,  laughing and talking.
The holy man said, 'I don't understand. 'It is simple,' said the Lord. 'It requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other.
The greedy think only of themselves.'
When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you..

Book Store

While shopping the other day, I walked past a religious book store.  Curious about it's different items, I ventured in to look around.  There were so many nice items that I could get and give for gifts.  Some of the things were what I had been looking to buy for many years.  I picked up a few items and walked to the cashier in order to pay for them.  She quickly feed my items through the  barcode scanner  and my purchase was complete.  I left the store feeling good about my shopping trip and will definitely go back for more items in the future.

Prop Me Up!

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old deacon who always prayed, "Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side." After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently.
He answered, "Well sir, you see, it's like this... I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years." "It's still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall."  "Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn. I've been around a long time. I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times."
Sometimes we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred,   "leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't." "So we need to pray, "Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord."
