Space Heaters

One year I went to visit my daughter who was living in Jackson Hole, WY at the time and found a different way of living. It seems that up there it is a way of life and a necessity to have space heaters. Since heat rises, they had put baseboard heaters around the floor to heat the rooms. I notice it was the best space heater they could afford at the time. I found myself standing near the window looking out at the snow falling and not feeling the cold on my feet. They have various ways of keeping things from ruining while it's so cold up in those areas of the nation. I also noticed that the sidewalks, were made of wood instead of concrete, so that they would last, where as concrete would crack and break from the freezing cold temps.
If you are living in an older home then you know how important space heaters are, compared to central heat. Older homes take time to get the proper insulation, when remodeling them and so with such high ceilings, they are in need of a local heat. Fireplaces, are in older homes as well, which can throw out plenty of heat when burning. All too soon the fire goes out and you need another way to warm yourself and your family. Space heaters can be localized in certain areas and keep the area warm instead of warming a whole house that is not being used by any family members during certain hours of the day or night.
