Have you ever watched a family going through the torture of seeing their precious child loose it's battle with a terminal disease? It's heart rending and there doesn't seem to be much you can do to help them. You can offer condolences, but an actual act of helping in some way gives them more comfort than you will ever know. Maybe you could sit with the person for an hour or two so they can get some needed rest or maybe you could offer to bring over some food to help while they are watching over the patient. The little things you can do to help don't seem like much, but you will be much appreciated for years to come.
