Freed journalists Laura Ling, left, and Euna Lee, are met by family members as they return home to Los Angeles, Calif., at the Bob Hope Airport on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009. The jet carrying Euna Lee and Laura Ling, reporters for Al Gore's San Francisco-based Current TV, and Clinton arrived at Burbank's Bob Hope Airport at dawn. Clinton met with communist leader Kim Jong Il on Tuesday to secure the women's release.

After meeting with Clinton, who made an unannounced visit to the North Korean capital Tuesday, Kim pardoned and freed the young journalists who allegedly crossed into the country from China earlier this year. They were serving 12-year prison sentences.

"It could provide an opportunity to move forward on the nuclear issue, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
We thank God for their release and safe return to their homes and families.
